Weekly Update - 5th Dec
A big welcome to Fiona, Chris , Andy and Nicola, the latest owners to join – we’re looking forward to meeting you on the racecourse – you will enjoy the ride !
No race for us this week but spare a thought for the Gran Luna syndicate owners who trekked from various parts of the UK (Berkshire. Oxfordshire, Wales, Kent, Durham!) to Haydock only for Nicky Henderson to let us know that the ground had deteriorated so much that we had to declare Gran Luna a non runner. The testing conditions would have been too much and the welfare of the horse is always a number 1 priority, as frustrating as that can be. We go again this week with entries at Taunton on Thursday and Doncaster Friday, both class 3 handicap hurdles over 2 miles and 3 furlongs.
Surrey Quest was absolutely fine after his win at Leicester so let’s hope we can see him out again before the year end.
Surrey Knight started cantering at the end of last week and he will continue to do steady flat canters for the next couple of months. Charlie said he’s moving great and looks a picture. I’ve added the link below which have the entries into next years German Derby, only 3 entries from the UK. Surrey Noir moved over to Bedford House Stables last week and Charlie said he looks very well. He’s already done a couple of steady canters and Charlie will pick things up slowly over the next couple of weeks.
Surrey Princess is back to 100% but the Lingfield race may come too soon, and actually she may not get into the race anyhow so I’ve listed the other options below which are at Southwell and Wolves – Wolves on Boxing Day – now there’s a treat!
No new news on the other horses, Surrey Gold will have one more week of work before a winter break, Surrey Charm is well at George’s, as is Surrey Mist who is light cantering while Surrey Belle is chilling at the stud farm in Chobham.
For those family and friends who are undecided about Christmas presents we still do have shares left in all of the new horses, not many mind. We have been extremely happy with their progress so far although it’s obviously early days, it’s so far so good. Because of that, and out of fairness to the owners who have already bought in and paying monthly fees, we will be raising the price of the shares from January 1st when all horses have their official birthday, ie our yearlings become 2 year olds.
