Weekly Update - 31st Jan

The last day of January, where is the year going ! With case numbers dropping and vaccines soaring it feels we are only a few months away from seeing the horses again, the very reason owners sign up to race horse syndicates. I hope you are all well, staying safe and sound ?

Well the weather has certainly kyboshed our plans for last week and probably the next as well with meetings up to Wednesday already abandoned. Whilst Nicky thinks Gran Luna would prefer soft, he doesn’t want her comeback to be on dire bottomless ground so i’m afraid we’re going to have to trust his judgment. Fran, who rides her, is very pleased with her progress so we will remain excited but will have to be patient!

Surrey Quest is a bit of a character with him permanently having his tongue out to the world! He’s very well in himself and enjoying his new home.

Surrey Knight has been doing two steady flat canters this week which he finds nice and easy. Charlie is not in any rush to step his workload up at the moment, but he might start doing one canter up Warren Hill once a week just to give him a bit more to do. He has been very straight forward since day one and everyone is very happy with his progress. There are still race horse shares available !

No new news re Surrey Gold or Surrey Pride – they go about their daily business and will continue that for a good few weeks.

George is back from the Bahrain and has sent in reports -both horses are well, Surrey Princess will be given time to mature, she will probably avoid the all weather and start racing on the turf in April. George and Pat think she will be better suited to slightly longer races, 10 furlongs, especially considering her dam side. Surrey Mist is also coming along nicely although still a baby. He does like a buck and a kick but that’s a character trait and so far there’s nothing to suggest that he wont be an early two year old running in April/May over 6 furlongs.

Eyes peeled for Gran Luna’s entry!

Enjoy February.
