Weekly Update 29th Nov
It looks like racing returns for some this week, which is great news, there is a light at the end of the tunnel but please continue to be safe and careful.
We had the one runner this week, with a disappointing debut from Surrey Princess. She was supremely relaxed in the preliminaries. Walking out to the track, she was a bit "buzzier" than a fortnight ago. She was walked to the start and Nicola reported she was on her toes before loading the stalls. Once loaded, she was quite fractious and missed the start when the stalls opened. She dived away to the left, and it was pretty much "game over" from that point onwards. George will take Princess out of training for 6 weeks – let her grow and mature before bringing her back early January. She will have a race on the all weather in March before running on the turf from April onwards.
Hughie said Surrey Gold is ‘fresh and well’ and eyeing one more race this year which is likely to be on December 16th – which also looks like being our final race of the year, on the positive side hopefully we can have a few owners at Kempton that evening ?
We received an update from Charlie re Surrey Knight – he said he ‘progressing really well now. He is fully broken in and is doing plenty of trotting out on the grass. He is very sensible and so far has been straight forward in every aspect. He should start hack cantering over the next week at which point he should be ready to move over to Bedford House Stables. So far I could not be happier with his progress’.
It’s still early days but the feeling is that possibly he’ll be an early 2 year old along with Surrey Mist who continues his daily routine on the gallops.
No new news from Surrey Pride, Surrey Quest or Gran Luna, business as usual for them.
