End of June Update

The lovely weather put paid to Surrey Force’s reappearance at Leicester last week as the ground was too firm, but he’ll be one of three horses that are scheduled to run this week, it’s great to think about going racing again after a quiet few weeks. However, we do need some rain to take ‘firm’ out of the going description.  Force will be entered into a (0-65) class 6 handicap over 1m 2f at Nottingham’s evening meeting next Saturday, the race scheduled for 8.10 pm. We may have a runner in the very next race, the 8.40 pm, as Surrey Belle could have an entry into a class 6 handicap over 1m 6f. It’s an ABBA Fever meeting, with Abba’s hits after racing and fancy dress is encouraged, not for the purist! Hopefully the England V Switzerland game will be on a big screen there as well!

Further North, the day before we should see Surrey Shadow competing at Haydock’s evening meeting in a class 4 novice over 7f with Jack Mitchell booked to ride. Surrey Shadow has come on from his last run so again he should be competitive but at the early entry stage it does look like another hot novice with three horses already rated in the 80s, and three others who cost over £130k. Haydock have had 5mm of rain this weekend and the ground is currently good with more showers on the way so there shouldn’t be any issue for Shadow, with the race currently scheduled for 8.25pm.

Good Luck to all the connections, let’s hope we’re celebrating some good performances at the end of the week!

The other horses are fine, Surrey Quest is getting turned out into a small paddock this week, Surrey Lord is doing a lot of trotting, and Surrey Fortune probably only has one more week left in Cornwall. Surrey Charm is continuing with her road to recovery.

Surrey Mist is doing everything that’s being asked of him, Ascot on the 13th remains the target, with Surrey Fire also set to return a few days prior at either Newbury or Kempton.

Finally, Surrey Noir has settled into his new French home. He’s eating well, showing a good temperament and has already been on the Chantilly gallops.  Tim is very happy with him and doesn’t have any negative feedback, although Charlie had the same comments. The next French sale is on Tuesday so Matt Coleman will be running his eye over the French bred breeze up horses to see whether there is one suitable for us to join Noir in Chantilly.

Plenty going on now with lots to look forward to
