Tier 4 Update

Hi All

Our last update before Christmas from the new Tier 4 HQ.

There’s not a great deal to update on really, we did get sent pictures of Surrey Knight who appears to be very forward for a Le Havre yearling. In these early days he’s doing everything that’s being asked of him and Charlie is really pleased with his progress. You can never tell which horses will be any good when they are yearlings, but you can tell which ones won’t be ! We are due a trip to Newmarket but we will wait until we get back to a safer environment so others can join us and see the town in action.

It really is BAU for the rest of the horses, not a lot to report on them really. The only real news is that Surrey Gold got given an official rating of 76 by the handicapper this week – I think that’s very fair and gives us a base and plenty of options for next season. Hard to really put a plan in place until we see how he matures over the next few months.

A couple of other snippets, we do have an owner would like to sell there share in Surrey Pride so if anyone wants to make an offer then please get in touch.

As we do every year, we get feedback from the owners on their horse and trainer so thanks for the comments and feedback on Surrey Gold/Hughie and Surrey Pride/Joe. We didn’t feel the need to ask about Charlie (no runner for us yet) George (just the one runner so far) and Nicky (one runner – 2 from 2). Thanks to those who have responded, we will feed back to the owners and update the rest next week but it would appear that we are looking forward to having two exciting horses staying where they are which is great news.

Marley Firth is recovering well from injury – he’s now moved up to a barn with another horse. Jackie mentioned that the vet and staff at Exeter racecourse inquired about his welfare last week which is nice.

For those who may be interested, Surrey Thunder, who must have had a serious injury, is back on full pace gallops with Chris Waller in Melbourne and apparently looking great. He’ll have a barrier trial in January with eyes on a return to racing in February.

We wish you all a very pleasant Christmas, for some it’s going to be a lot harder than others, our thoughts and best wishes are with you. Stay safe and look after each other.
