Christmas Update

The last newsletter before Christmas and really not too much to update on this week. 

We do hope to have a runner by the time you read next week’s update with Surrey Princess entered into the Betway Insider Handicap at Wolves on Boxing Day, the 4.45 race, a class 6 over 1 mile 2 furlongs. However, that is dependent on a racecourse gallop which was due last week at Kempton until Covid restrictions put a block on it so she will have a spin at Lingfield on Tuesday morning. Unfortunately due to restrictions syndicate owners aren’t allowed to watch but we’ll feedback on how she is when we hear from George but there are options on Thursday 30th at Wolves if she needs a few extra days.  

We chased Nicky who said Gran Luna’s scope was clear, which is obviously good news but that does raise questions about her performance at Taunton. She was lowered 2 pounds by the handicapper to 117 for that run. We think she needs a bit further over softer, the New Year for Luna and Quest’s next run,

Surrey Knight continues to do nice long hack canters every day and Charlie is very happy with him, he’ll continue to do this for the time being. Surrey Noir has settled in really nicely and Charlie has been using lots of different canters with him and his yearlings over the past week.  He’ll continue to mix it up as much as possible until Christmas at which point he will get a bit of time off. He is definitely a character but is doing everything as that is being asked of him at the moment.  

Surrey Charm isn’t doing much, Surrey Gold isn’t doing anything, whilst Surrey Mist is looking great and has filled out a lot, the break has done wonders for him and a good chance he’ll be running in around 6-8 weeks time.
