A Win at Windsor
It’s been a while but we are finally back in the winners enclosure after an impressive return to form for Surrey Mist at Windsor in a competitive class 3 handicap over 1m 3.5f. Mist has benefitted from a change of scenery and who is now in the care of Kevin Philippart de Foy who was having his first runner for Surrey Racing, what a way to get off the mark.
The Windsor ground was on the slow side of good, perfect for Surrey Mist so the syndicate owners were pretty confident of a decent run. Despite being a bit reluctant to go into the stalls, Mist broke way and followed the early pace set my Bad Company who had the rest of the field spread out. With 4 furlongs to go, Danny Muscutt (also having his first Surrey Racing ride) pushed Mist to lead and after a few reminders to get on with the job but he travelled powerfully and wasn’t that hard pressed to assert his authority. There seemed a lot left at the finish as Mist extended his lead to win by a cosy 2.5 lengths.
We’ll see what the handicapper thinks next week but the November Handicap at Doncaster could be the next target.
