Fire Burns Brightly

Surrey Fire dominated the field from the off to score comfortably under Harry Davies to break his maiden in a novice stakes over 10 furlongs. Fire made a very impressive debut at Nottingham as a two year old but has been slow to come to hand this season. His return after a break at Kempton was too bad to be true but there were excuses and we thought he’d come on for that first run back. Hughie had him in great shape on a steamy day for his third run.

Despite a jinking start Harry quickly took Fire to the front where he strode along happily and with 3-4 furlongs from home it appeared the competition were all off the bridle. Despite running green he galloped on impressively and looks an above average horse for big Saturday races later in the season.
