Quest Hunts Them Down!
It didn’t really go well for Surrey Quest last season but after enjoying a summer with Jackie du Plessis in Cornwall and moving to Toby Lawes’s Henfold Stables in Dorking he’s back loving his training. Quest made his seasonal appearance at Huntingdon, in a class 4 Novice Handicap Hurdle over 2m 7f and the plan was just to get him back racing and building his confidence for the season ahead. Toby had him looking great and Kevin Brogan rode him handily placed throughout the contest although coming around the final turn the favourite Storminhome and Harjo had opened up a 6 length lead. Kevin didn’t panic and as the front two fought each other he closed the gap although still 3 lengths down at the last which he jumped well. Quest had the momentum and stormed clear to win by a decisive 6 lengths going away cheered on by the syndicate owners in the stand!
What a return for a horse we have always known had talent but now he has finally shown us that we can start planning for the season ahead with optimism, which we doubt will be under 3 miles!
Congrats to all who have played a part getting his back to full fitness and injury free.
