Ascot ‘here we come’ Update

Surrey Gold is set for Royal Ascot this week although Hughie advises against running unless we have a lot of rain Wednesday evening as the downhill stretch at the 4f marker is very dry and Hughie has seen many horses careers ruined there. He said for the longevity of the horse he’d need that section to be soft. We also need 12 other horses above us in the ratings to drop at declarations so there’s many factors involved here so fingers crossed that the syndicate owners see their horse run.

Surrey Mist is having a racecourse gallop at Kempton on Thursday morning which I think a couple of owners are going to get up nice and early to go and watch. He’s starting to fill out now and looks a 3 year old so we’ll see how he goes Thursday but I don’t think it will be long before he makes his debut.

Surrey Princess is coming to the end of her box rest and will be looked at by the vet again this week to see whether she can continue training, we’ll let you know. It was good to see some of the horses from her last race doing well this week holding up the form.

Surrey Pride’s next confirmation stage for the John Smiths is on Tuesday, we’ll get more of idea about his chances of running at York. He’s very well, and Joe has invited us all down to see Pride on Wednesday 23rd – you are very welcome, and we’ll see if we can book brunch afterwards.

No new news on Surrey Knight, Surrey Quest or Gran Luna.
