Gran Luna Loves Newbury!

She’s a delicate one is Gran Luna, she has a low key training regime at Seven Barrows to keep her sound but she certainly looks the part when she turns up on raceday, which a real credit to Nicky Henderson and all of the team. She is such an imposing horse. when it clicks she’s so tough and never knows when she’s beaten.

Today was no exception in a mares handicap hurdle at Newbury. Nico de Boinville led from the tape and in pretty soft conditions she just galloped on and on. She was headed after the last and even went a length down but as she has done in the past, she just keeps on going and overhauled Voice of Calm before the line to win by a head.

The Syndicate Owners have had a brilliant run with her, she’s now won 4 of her 6 races including an amazing 3 from 3 at Newbury. There were incredible scenes in the winners enclosure as the owners watched the next from Doncaster on the big screen where only 10 minutes later Surrey Quest trounced all to cap another amazing Surrey Racing Double!
