Surrey Quest Tanks Home at Doncaster!
Having just watched Gran Luna win by a head at Newbury the syndicate owners at a very soggy Doncaster were looking to hold up their end of the bargain for yet another Surrey Racing double.
Surrey Quest drifted in the betting but we couldn’t understand why he was friendless in the market because we know he’s a quality horse who will relish the trip and conditions. Young Nathan Brennan exuded confidence before the race and rode Quest as if he was the best horse in the race. One by one the other horses dropped away as Quest tanked on and on, probably hitting the front too early for such an inexperienced horses but despite wandering all over the last furlong he won really impressively by an easy 7 lengths!
The best thing is that we know he will improve for the run so he really could be anything in 2022 and onwards - graded races certainly beckon.
What a very Happy New Year for all of the owners today!
